As we continually strive to have an open line of communication with our customers, we want to share an update on the measures we are implementing following the ongoing daily restrictions implemented by the Panama Canal Authority.

The current measures, which have been established in response to unpredictable weather patterns, are vital in ensuring that the canal remains a reliable and sustainable service for all users.

“We are aware of the essential role that the efficient transit of goods through this important waterway plays in the global supply chain. As such, we want to address the potential challenges head-on, and ensure that the impact on our operations is minimized”, says Bongsoo Kim, VP Tonnage and Performance.

What you can expect from us

With the restrictions expected to continue for the rest of the year and into 2024, we are currently in the process of pre-booking our vessel transit slots until early 2024. By doing this, we incorporate sufficient buffer time to navigate through any unforeseen challenges, ensuring that our service remains as reliable and predictable as possible.

Our dedicated Trade and Operations teams are at the forefront of this initiative. They are optimizing vessel transits through the canal, ensuring that every shipment is managed with precision and care and with your best interests at heart.

Andrew Fuller, Manager, Voyage Operations America says, “The voyage operations team in Savannah is consistently communicating and working with the Panama Canal Authority. We are monitoring the delays and working diligently to keep our vessels transiting the canal as soon as possible,” he continues “With the constant support from our global trade teams, we are committed to keeping this process efficient, while also minimizing delays and reducing costs associated with daily transits.”
