Big things happening in Australia
We are excited to announce that we have returned to the Vehicle Processing Center (VPC) business in Australia, with three newly established sites in Perth, Brisbane, and Melbourne.
This achievement marks a significant milestone for our organization, as we re-enter the automotive processing market after more than 20 years.
The Australia team played a pivotal role in building the operational framework from the ground up, ensuring we met our customer’s expectations right from the start. Their dedication and expertise were instrumental in shaping tailored processes to deliver outstanding service.
Let’s take a closer look at what the team has done to deliver best-in-class service for the customer.
Custom Site Fit Out:
We designed and delivered a tailored site fit-out aligned to the customer’s specific requirements, ensuring all operational workflows integrated seamlessly with their expectations
Specialized Equipment Research & Procurement:
We researched and engaged with local suppliers to source the most suitable charging equipment. This included ensuring the correct output for each vehicle model and meeting all compliance and safety requirements.
Inspection Reports Aligned to Customer Standards:
Our team redeveloped our inspection reporting to mirror the customer’s preferred format, creating a consistent, transparent, and familiar output.
Daily Activity Tracking with Global Integration:
We implemented new processes to accurately track, record, and report daily activities. This system was shaped through collaboration between local operations, internal teams, and the customer’s global representatives.
Extensive Staff & Customer Training:
Our teams led comprehensive training sessions to define clear operational processes and expectations. This training was conducted in partnership with the customer to ensure alignment from day one.
Electricity Tracking for Transparency & Accurate Invoicing:
We developed a way with our current system to monitor electricity usage at a granular level, providing full transparency to the customer and ensuring precise invoicing.
Advanced Yard & Location Mapping:
We planned our site layout using detailed mapping to efficiently manage large volumes. This ensured accurate tracking of all stock across the yard and supported smooth operational flow from arrival to dispatch.
Overall, the operational setup of this VPC reflects extensive planning, global collaboration and commitment from the Australian team. Wallenius Wilhelmsen has invested significantly to establish this capability, and we intend to continue growing in this space by providing niche, high-value solutions to our automotive customers
Prakash Joshi (General Manager) emphasized the scale of the achievement, noting: “This achievement genuinely belongs to the team. Starting up three VPCs at once and delivering them at a world-class standard took outstanding teamwork, resilience, and problem-solving. I’m incredibly proud of what the team has delivered in record-short amount of time”.
