The products covered by this segment produce the parts that are needed to manufacture many types of product. As a result, the sector is heavily dependent on the demands of other industries, most notably oil and gas, as well as manufacturers of vehicles and heavy machinery.

Although this segment comprises a wide range of products which are then exported to various markets, it shares common challenges with other industries – for one, exports to new or remote areas often require new distribution patterns. Setting up and successfully driving sales in foreign markets is challenging enough without being hampered by distribution challenges. The good news is that we can help.

We ship large volumes of machinery and machine tools for some of the world’s biggest brands and have a wealth of knowledge and experience in this segment. Products can vary from individual machine tools to full production lines or even whole factories, with sizes and weights that may differ with each shipment. Often fitted with sophisticated electronics, these machines require careful handling, including the use of special equipment to enable loading and transfers without disturbing the product and full protection from the elements during ocean transportation. Every stage of the journey needs to be well planned and competently executed to guarantee safe delivery.

One of our original designs, ideal for breakbulk up to 220 tonnes. They are available in 8, 10 and 16 m versions, ensuring there’s always a perfect fit for your needs. Cargo types include: transformers, generators and turbine rotors.

Blocks and Beams

Jack-up trailers with blocks and beams are used to handle RoRo cargo of up to 400 tonnes and are configured to suit the cargo being shipped. The unit is stowed on blocks and beams during terminal storage and onboard the vessel. Cargo types include: transformers, generators, boilers, rotors, tunnel boring machines and hydraulic press machines.

Bolster

Designed for smaller breakbulk cargo which is not suited for direct stowage on a vessel deck. Bolsters are suitable to minimise the handling operation in the port as several small pieces of cargo can be loaded on a bolster and forklifted onboard. Cargo types include: steel plates and coils, small yachts, crates and machinery.

Roll trailers

The workhorse of our equipment fleet, roll trailers have been developed for cargo up to 140 tonnes. Roll trailers are simply towed on and off the vessel. Cargo types: all kinds of breakbulk from machine tools to crane counterweights. We also offer specialised railed roll trailers for rail cars and extra low profile roll trailers for particularly tall cargo.

Samson Light

The Samson light handling equipment consists of one set of MPBs which are connected together with a pushbar. The pushbars are designed to fit each cargo and is therefore available in several different lengths. This handling equipment has the same advantages as a regular MPB but it also offers two separate supporters and a heavy footprint, enabling the weight to be evenly distributed between the two bogies. This equipment is typically used for generators, transformers, rotors and heavy steam drums.

Multi-Purpose Boogies (MPBs)

The Multi-Purpose Boogies (MPBs), consist of boogies which are used in pairs, and can handle cargo weight up to 140 tons. This solution has a wider tipping point than a regular roll trailer, which makes this a safe choice for wide and/or high cargo. The boogies can be fitted with different attachments to create a roll trailer-like cargo carrier, which can be maneuvered from both ends. MPBs are typically used for rail cars, fabricated beams, generators, transformers and industrial tanks.
