For the second year in a row, Wallenius Wilhelmsen has been awarded a Gold Medal rating from ESG rater EcoVadis. “Our rating is an important validation of our management systems, and signals to our customers we are managing risks well,” says Anette Rønnov, Chief Sustainability Officer at Wallenius Wilhelmsen.

EcoVadis is one of the world’s largest providers of business sustainability ratings for global supply chains. They use a questionnaire process to evaluate management systems and provide easy-to-use and actionable sustainability scorecards with detailed insight into environmental, social and ethical risks across more than 220 purchasing categories and 180 countries.

“While we began our journey with EcoVadis at the request of customers and investors, we’ve learned that participating in EcoVadis also helps us measure how well we have integrated the principles of sustainability into our policies and management systems,” says Anette Rønnov.

This year, Wallenius Wilhelmsen has also been named as a Carbon Management Leader. As part of the evaluation, companies are assessed on their carbon management practices and then ranked Insufficient, Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced or Leader.

Leaders are companies who demonstrate a strong GHG management system and best-in-class decarbonization commitments, actions and reporting capabilities.

“This recognition is thanks to our transition plans, which took lots of solid planning and work by our Orcelle Accelerator team and all our operations,” says, Jonathan Spampinato, Senior Manager Sustainability.

Why our EcoVadis rating matters to you

Our EcoVadis Gold rating gives you, our customers and partners, confidence that your outbound logistics partner is managing environmental, ethical, and regulatory risks responsibly. Because EcoVadis evaluates the maturity of our management systems, and not just annual performance, Gold status two years in a row shows that we consistently meet high standards in areas that matter for supply chain resilience.

It also supports your own ESG commitments and reporting obligations. With increasing requirements like the EU’s CSRD and U.S. climate disclosure rules, having a Gold-rated supplier provides credible, third-party data and alignment with your sustainability goals, from carbon reduction to responsible sourcing.
